Canada’s refusal to sign the UN arms trade treaty…

…is nothing short of bizarre!

And Pit bill Baird’s contention that the Grit and Dipper support for the treaty is somehow related to reintroducing the Gun Registry is stuff from a freaking alternate universe!

Seriously? Has the moral compass of the CPC gone that wacky???

  1. No, it’s not that bizarre.

Canada has been a major arms merchant on the world stage for decades, particularly for ammunition. The Israeli invasion of Lebanon, for example, was predicated on high-tech Canadian artillery shells.

It’s an open secret. People just don’t hear about it much because we don’t actually send troops everywhere (or didn’t send troops in the olde days), but Canada is as much a “merchant of death” as anyone else.
