Stay classy, my home and native land…

…stay classy.

Canada was one of only 6 nations to vote yesterday against a UN resolution calling for Israel to open up its nuclear facilities for inspection.

The others were the US, Israel, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau.

What lovely company.

Nice to see that we have an independent foreign policy and don’t feel the need to cow-tow to the States… d’oh!

Also nice to see that we feel non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is a good thing – double d’oh!!!!

This government never ceases to amaze me.

Now you’re just being silly Israel cannot have nuclear weapons because they have never admitted having them. Problem solved. As for us under Harper having an independent foreign policy well that’s just to cute to even consider. Being in the wrong about letting Palestine listen is kinda nice too. Just how bad do you have to be before it’s important to stop you from listening to public statements being broadcast around the world and translated into dozens of languages. Then Baird finished the comedy schtick by saying the only way to solve the problems was to negotiate. Tough to do if you can’t even listen to the other side.
I’m so embarrassed by these bozos and disheartened to think my country voted them into power.

In politics nothing is really black and white. The resolution called upon Israel and Israel only to open its self up for inspection. No other country in the region was similarly required to do so. Wonder why?

In he past, Iran has been asked and has complied only in a limited way. Iraq was asked under the Hussein regime and they also complied.
Why not Israel? Why not every nuke holding nation? Everyone should be open for inspection.
But in this region especially, we have to be sure that all nation’s nuclear capabilities are monitored. And Iran and Israel are the only two countries who have this capacity in the region.

    • Every country in that region with a nuclear program has been subject to inspections EXCEPT Israel, that’s why no other country was asked this time.

Some of them, like Iran, are presently under inspection orders.

Of course, if the criteria is “country full of religious nuts with nukes” one might ask why nobody is calling for the US to be inspected.
