    They really, truly believed the White Franchise had it in the bag. The Supreme Court handed them Citizens United. Several state governments initiated Democratic vote-killing voter ID laws, voter suppression and punishingly long lines at Democratic leaning polls. They even had Republican-linked firms supplying and servicing all the electronic voting machines.

    Oh, and they so needed this one win, just one more, to rig the deck against the rising Non-White Franchise, the young and those uppity women.

    But, best of all, they had to sit raptly glued to their big screens and watch it all unfold even as Romney dragged out his concession speech by an extra hour.

    For my part, I managed to tune in to FOX News to watch a despondent crew who looked like they had just been forced to swallow broken glass. Priceless.
