It should never be forgotten that a large contributing factor to Quebec having those progressive social policies is Alberta, and historically, Ontario, paying for them. Quebec has never really understood where the money comes from… at least not since I’ve been able to remember.

The PQ feels that federalism is broken, and the provinces don’t get a fair shake. They’re right. What they don’t grasp is that if the Quebec got a fair shake, it would be a bankrupt former French colony with a third world standard of living.

All those progressive social programs would go right down the drain then.
