Suck it up. You asked for this.

Kinsella’s column in the Sun today pretty much sums up what I and other like-minded progressives have being saying since May 2.

You don’t like the fact that Harper thumbs his nose at Canadian voters in Newfoundland, Quebec who gave the boot to Smith, Manning and Verner? You don’t like what Clement is saying about program cuts after his boss emphatically stated during the election campaign that cuts to the PS would be achieved through attrition? Well:

You get what you pay for, folks. You get the government you vote for. Suck it up.

Gonna be a long four years. But, at the end of it, Harper will be gone and the Cons will be decimated. Canadians had a brain-fart this time. But they will have had a strong dose of antacid by the time 2015 rolls around.

I reject your premise. “We” did not vote for this. A majority voted against this outcome. FPTP did this to us. Remember that and take action.

    1. trashee says:

Fair enough. “We” did not vote for this. But under the present system, the results are legit. FPTP is flawed, of course. But is there a mainstream party who is willing to take up the cause for reform (yeah, bad word)??? Because without that champion, we are doomed to more of the same.

    2. Ken says:

Your premise is flawed as well. The majority didn’t vote against anything either. They were just as divided as ever.

In fact, the majority hasn’t banded together and voted FOR anything since the days of Mulroney.

      1. Jerry C says:

No Ken, I think you’re wrong. if I don’t vote for someone then I am voting against them. I think you have a subtle persecution complex.

        1. Ken says:

Then you’ve got democracy ass-backwards. But then that’s to be expected from someone spouting a psychological diagnosis based on one comment on a blog.

Susan Delacourt’s most recent article says that according to Darell Bricker, we’re goin’ to be stuck with Harpercons for a very long time.–harper-s-conservatives-here-to-stay

Given that Harper will cut the per vote subsidy in the next budget as it is being reported in the media as of late, they’re probably right. Harper, supported by most, don’t want any form of opposition.

  3. XUP says:

If only that were true. Look what happened in Ontario with the Mike Harris debacle. He slashed the beejeezus out of everything good and useful in this province and they elected him to a second term. And now they’re blaming McGuinty for not fixing it all up fast enough.

  4. peggy says:

The electorate has spoken. Respect their choice.

    1. trashee says:

I do respect it. But I don’t have to agree with it.
