THAT was scary!

Lotsa folks freaked out by this… the building across the street seems to have been evacuated…

It lasted about a minute or so… I didn’t think these things lasted that long…

Cell service is down.

You have to remember Ottawa has never felt what a earthquake in the past..just a tiny shake we would feel ….we always had 3 or less…so this one to us felt very huge, and scared the living gee-bees out of us all…I live on the 3rd floor (which is really the 6th because of the levels) and I saw the building inside sway a bit.

Yo tambien dije no denuevo, viv en carne propia el de Chile..
Not again I was in Chile on feb 27 earthquake
One Cuestion is ottawa prepared for a large magnitud earthquake, are the buildings earthquake proof?????

  4. shirley says:

I was in the Chile earthquake and didnt even feel the one here in Ottawa. Our aftershocks were 7 so really, this one was just a small one. You can imagine the damage and fear there was in Chile, and still is. Buck up. I am 84 years old and cant believe the panic here in Ottawa.

  5. tina says:

Here by Buttonville Airport ( Just north or Toronto) the buliding shook and set off the emergency alarms…

  6. ck says:

    Went as far as Ottawa??

We just had ourselves a little mid-afternoon adventure at work. Health & Safety let us know a few minutes ago we could go back into the building. I work in Downtown Montreal.

According to the news so far as it was felt from the south Shore of Montreal to the Laurentians.

    1. trashee says:

It was centred about 60 km. north of here.
I work on the 3rd floor of a 27 story building and the whole building shook and rattled for about a minute.
My wife was at a training session downtown on the 14th floor of a building and they were sure a bomb had gone off.
Pictures fell off the wall at my son’s daycare and apparently some windows broke in Hull.
I’m sure that this all the fault of those protesters, anarchists and moose at the G8/G20. 🙂

    2. Mario says:

Um… actually, the earthquake’s epicentre (as in it BEGAN) right here JUST a little north of Ottawa .. so the true question would be : “It went as far as Montreal?!”
And the answer would be yes, it didn’t only go as far as Montreal, but apparently the effects were felt as far as Toronto and Buffalo too…
I actually felt the building sway forward.
      It was weird…
We just had another one here in Ottawa (November 2010) ..a MUCH smaller one.. but nonetheless, Ottawa usually gets one earthquake every 3 years (like the Feb 2006 one).. this year we’ve had 2 in just less than 5 months…

  7. Kairjohn says:

YIKES!!! Not here again….I felt it and in Ottawa and knew it was an earth quake – after my experience with the 8.8 earthquake in Chile on Feb 27

  8. kris says:

Felt the earthquake here in London. That was weird. My chair was shaking and so was I

  9. Kn0wn says:

    felt it in Markham too!
