Hey XUP - the facial bolt - technically called an "anti-eyebrow" was a real pain in the butt thing to look after. It had to be cleaning fastidiously every day and she could put make-up in the area around the perforation. Her skin was looking a little blue immediately under the metal and I STRONGLY suggested that she see about it - meaning that she should go to a Doctor. Of course, she didn't do exactly that but did go back to Silverline to have the piercer look at it. Sure enough, Torii has a good immunity system happening in her teen body and it was rejecting the metal. The piercer took it out and the kids should have a scar.
Now if she would only get rid of the tongue piercing...
Major points to mention to the potential "piercee":
1) They really hurt
2) Big hassle to maintain. I think my teen was actually a little relieved to have a reason to take it out.
3) They really, really hurt.
4) They can get infected... big problems and scarring
5) The body can reject - and if that isn't looked after quickly enough, major scarring

I hope Saturday didn't dampen those sunny spirits of yours too much! Much as I'm enjoying not having snow and sub-zero temperatures, it would be nice if days like Friday weren't the exception when it's supposed to be summer. We only get a few weeks of "summer", so you'd think it could at least be hot, hot, hot so that by the time September rolls around we're looking forward to cooler weather.

On another note, I'd be interested to know what reaction your teen had with the facial bolt? Mine just has run-of-the-mill pierced ears (which she had to fight for) and now wants "other" piercings. I'd appreciate all the ammunition I can get to deny her permission for this. Thanks
