Return of the buses

The phasing in – according to the Citizen:

No word on dates… but I’m guessing we’ll see the O-Train and the 80 & 90 series routes back as early as late next week. Here’s hopin’!

OC Transpo has a tentative plan for restoring transit service as quickly as possible, but a return to full service will take some time. Mechanics are working to bring all the buses back, but vehicles that haven’t had significant maintenance in more than 50 days can’t all be put on the roads immediately.

This is OC Transpo’s tentative plan for which routes will be back first.

Will operate during their regularly scheduled day, including rush hours:

• O-Train

• All school routes, numbered in the 600s

• Rapid transit routes 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 101, 102 and 106

• Major routes 2, 7, 12, 14, 85, 86 and 118

• Peak employment route 105

• Van route 123

• Early morning routes 824, 825, 830, 835, 837, and 873

Will operate evenings and mid-day only, outside of rush hours:

• Routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 16, 18, 87, 111, 112, 114, 115, 116 and 117

• Local black routes numbered 121 through 178

Will not operate immediately:

• Green express and rural express routes

• Red rush hour routes other than 102 and 105

Saturday & Sunday

All routes that normally run on weekends will operate at full service.

  1. Personally I’m hoping they call it binding arbitration because they bind all the parties involved and arbitrarily slap them with a frozen haddock until they stop acting like morons.

  2. GEORGE is right! Why should those #$&%(*& poor people, the people without cars, and so forth who live in the core routes get their service first? Who do they think they are?

Dammit rich people who pay high taxes on their quarter and half million dollar homes that they chose to buy out in the suburbs and who drive expensive foreign cars have a RIGHT to get bus service back first.

Slack on this bus thing and next thing you know they’ll be feeding hungry people before rich people, or treating sick people in the emergency room before the civil servant’s kid who woke up with a pimple.

  3. GEORGE says:

What exactly is “will not operate immediately” supposed to mean anyway. Will Kanata have this back in an additional week, an additional month – TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!11

Come one, Kanata residents pay just as much tax as the rest and Obrien and the OC criminals think it’s fair that WE GET FREAKIN SHAFTED. It might not help, but I encourage all those of us in Kanata who rely on express routes to phone, email and CLOG UP THE DAMNED SYSTEM, until the major and all his cronies get the message that we are just as important as the downtown core

Thanks O’Brien – thanks for nothing!

  4. XUP says:

Well, my none of my buses are on these priorty lists, but that’s okay for now. At least the slap-fighting is over.
